Various door manufacturers have carried out successful fire tests on doors in which Pyrostone has been incorporated into the wooden edging. For example, fire tests carried out on doors with a thickness of 40 mm (filled with Pyrostone pine wood edging) have been successful. A steel assembly frame (not filled) was used which was mounted in a panel made of aerated concrete and metal stud. This was tested in accordance with the new European norm EN.NEN 1634.1 and results demonstrated a fire resistance of 68 minutes.
Thanks to this excellent fire resistance result, the panel can be replaced (without the need for re-testing) by aerated concrete or plaster blocks. The frame can be replaced by a steel built-in frame or a wooden assembly/built-in frame. Moreover, the surface dimensions of the door in question may increase by 15% before re-testing is required.
